Really busy with Uni and Bonktober, but surprisedly fired up on my Bonktober entries and even got some TFRarepairFest done. I was watching Vargskeletor's Ovniphilia stream VOD, and he talked about how everyone has at least one "supernatural" encounter, or that they don't have an explanation for. And since it's Halloween month, I thought I would share one of mine!

Now, I grew up in a Spiritist household with some side of Umbanda and Christianism (Yeah, I know, doesn't make much sense, but's true.), I consider myself agnostic now. I am not sure if I really believe what happened was actual spiiiiriiittsss, just also not really sure what it was and since I was told a lot by mother that there are spirits, it may have affected my viewpoint.

At the time I was at least 8 to 10~ years old, very maybe, my Aunt was living with us and we shared a bedroom. I was late to mature, and still could not sleep without some light, so we used to leave the light of the bathroom that was in front of our room on. You see, the important layout was that it was a hallway that went from the open TV room, then there was my parent's room in a slight more open area, then our room facing the bathroom and siding with the Toys/guest room. The TV room was right at the entrance and had a very large ceiling, and was open to the dinner room and spiral stairs that led to my older-middle sister's room.

I was having a really hard time falling asleep then, it was normal for me to have some light insomnia, and I was watching the door, slight open for the light. I wasn't really afraid or anything, just waiting to fall asleep...

When I hear, from the direction of the toy room, the sound like a winding-up toy walking. It was approaching the door and I remember following the sound with my eye until it reach it, just for the sound to walk past, but I do not see anything going by with it.  I froze up, stared until the sound faded at the door to the TV room, I think I stayed like this for a bit until I was so agitated I got up, went to the TV room, turned on the lights and then sat on the sofa, which was not propped up to a wall, it was with its back to the hallway's entrance.

I think I wanted to watch TV to calm down, but since it was so close to the bedrooms and I didn't want to wake anyone up, I just stared at nothing. Then I heard it again, now just behind the sofa. I instantly propped myself up to look at it, and again, even though I could follow the sound very clearly, I didn't see anything at all with it.

Not really sure what happened next, I think I stayed there for a while before my mom woke up, maybe because of the light, and got me back to bed.

When I think back to it, the only explanation I got is that there was a wind up toy going off in the toys room, but the sound was so clearly in front of me, and I'm not kidding when I say I followed if with my eyes. It could also have been a weird bug that was just small enough for me not to see, but not sure if there is any out there that makes this type of noise.

How I said, my family is mostly spiritist, and there were quite a few "ghost" stories within it. My mom talking about me as a toddler talking about my late grandfather I never met, my sister talking about seeing shadows in the dark as a kid... etc... but this one is the only very clear one from my childhood.

Some other spooky story, but with me not being a kid:

In my first apartment, that was actually first my sister's, then my step-brother's, then owned by my step-mother. I remember waking up middle of the night in the dark (as an adult, I cannot sleep with light now unless it's too hot to be picky.) to a type of lotus flower looking thing at my head pillow side. You know those flower candles that open up, it looked like that, but it was closing up instead.

There was a screen looking square on one of the "petals", I was so spooked I jumped out of my bed, and swear I watched it float up to the ceiling and beyond, lol. A wave of calm washed me not much after, and I fell asleep immediately as I got back into bed. Just later that, I went, "wait, what the hell??". I moved, so not sleep paralysis, but I know there are other semi-dreaming states you can be into, just looked very vivid.

Here's the drawing I did of it on my journal at the time! (Maybe one day I'll also share some of my dreams I have on it, I should go back to logging in my dreams.)

Anyway,
