comet_scoutI haven't been soloing much, which was 90% of what I've been blogging here, so the place went quiet for a bit. Rambling undercut!
Was trying to focus more on Uni, but also admit having gotten kind of lazy on reading game rules and taking my time with them. I really want to get back into it and was going thought the shorter games I've gotten on Itchio's charity bundles. Had fun with 'And the Gunslinger Followed' and 'Cryomnesis', which reminded me of 'Hipersono' premise wise. But I really want to play some bigger campaigns and use some tools around sandbox exploration. I especially want to use the hex-exploration from The Solo Adventurer toolbox sci-fi edition. When I was doing my Transformers game, I did mention not knowing how Cybertron exploration was going to be, but it has an abandoned construction part which could work great for it.
I was thinking of maybe trying some experimental thing and use solo tools without a system, so... creative writing I guess? Just to get me back in the mood, but not sure of the scenario yet. I did think of finally getting Mythic RPG since I use the GME, but I heard it's being rewritten for a vol.2, so I'll wait.
Mostly, I've been getting into Halo. Replayed the first game, after finally finishing Doom 2016, while going thought a bad period cycle, and it turned out to have been an amazing game for it. I had read Fall of Reach and The Flood around the time I first played the trilogy, and this got me to get back into it. I'm reading and listening to the Audiobooks together, and it has really helped me focus and to get through them.
At Cole Protocol now, I'm loving the insane Sangheili culture POV from Thel, and between the other books, I think this is the best perspective on the 'Innies' right now (Still a bit Military propaganda-ish, but... yeah.) and loved the alien POVs in Contact Harvest, and despite not feeling First Strike as much, Dr. Halsey has become my favorite character thought all of it and I loved her journal notes, I really want to get to her and Jul' Mdame parts soon. I also really liked The Return short. I want to see if I can catch up before watching a Halo 5 gameplay and then play Infinite since I think I'll be quite lost. I also got to Halo Wars, not 2 yet, and there is something fun about them despite me not being much into strategy.
Thinking about which, my first contact with Halo was a Halo Wars 2 fan GMV, which was the trailer with let me down slowly by Alec Benjamin, it's pretty awesome actually and remember wondering if people shipped the UNSC guy and the Brute since it makes it look like they had a break up. (Well, maybe I'll then, no popular ship has really gotten to me tbh. Thought there is this neat Marissa/Thel fic I liked.)
An unexpected, maybe short-lived, interest comeback right now for me is FNAF. I had a genuine FNAF phase as a late-teen, and I have some good and bad memories around the time, I had a semi-know fnaf ask blog but also weird interactions with a BNF. Seeing Springtrap pop up on DBD, also had a DBD phase for a bit, really ignited the nostalgia on me and got me watching the 2023 movie, which just got me more into it since I genuinely enjoyed it. So now I've been thinking about some characters and my old interpretations of the guards, theories, and how I would approach it now.
I remember mostly wanting to play with my interpretations of the FrightGuard and Phone Dude since 3 was my favorite entry to the series for some reason, but now I've been thinking about Michael and Afton's relationship, he has everything going on for a good whump tbh. I also remember not enjoying Charlie's introduction to the Lore much, this was when it started to lose me a bit, but now kind of fun to imagine Michael and Charlie building sort of a post death friendship from the little I remember.
I didn't care much about Purple guy, but I still really love Springtrap's design, and admit thinking he looks really cool in DBD and his appearance in the movie, 17 y.o me is hyped, and I don't really have any shame to play on this right now, especially while going thought an art block and this being a possible answer for it right now. They should add Michael as a survivor so him and Afton could finally have some Son-Parent quality time.
Also. Dreamwidth seens to sundelly not want to read the Iceland font I had chosen for my page and had no luck fixing it. I miss my obnoxious font.
