I started reading Frankenstein recently, I just read one chapter when I feel like it before sleep so, going very slow, it was nice to change the pace of what I'm reading and stuff.

I'm at the part where he goes back home because (SPOILER//) his little brother died. I knew though internet jokes that the doctor was an asshole and the monster wasn't that bad but didn't think it would be to this extent, the thing is just existing there and he already hates his guts.

To be fair the DR isn't that much of a jerk or anything, more of a little paranoid, I thought that his life was very sweet or at least his family and friends. But it makes me wonder if the monster symbolizes something about himself. I get that the author says in the book that she just came up with the story in a game with friends and, maybe I'm remembering wrong, it doesn't mean much but I get the story beat vibe that the creature is a part of the doctor that the doctor really hates for some reason, idk, things are just starting, not that far into the book yet.

I like how desperate for a friend the boatman who finds him at the beginning is for the company too, this crazy and malnourished guy he picks up from the sea just shows up and he goes "This is it, that is a friend :)".

Anyway, the book I'm reading it from is a horror anthology and also have Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde + Dracula so if one day I finish Frankstein I going to those, or go to finally finish hhg2tg or lotr... I'm not good at finishing books. Or maybe I'll just read Dracula in Oblivion, I just remembered I got a mod that adds classics books to the game, just looked fun.

It's really a great book, I read it for the first time back in the late 80's.

is that book from martin claret? if so, i have it as well.

i quite liked frankenstein on the first read. i tried reading it again (i bought that deluxe edition from darkside) and oh boy, it's so slow i couldn't do it again.

dracula is much slower, though, and so, so boring. i couldn't finish it.

Miecio Honkins sounds like a Martin Claret "translator", since they steal other people's translations and put a bogus name on the cover. I don't have the book anymore (I gifted it to a friend), but it's probably the same edition.

Dracula is very long indeed. It's written in letters, so some of them are kinda useless to the plot. It's a nice structure, but it can be boring.

Darkside's Frankenstein is a really good edition, but it has a few useless para-texts, and it's, will, it's from Darkside, so there will always be an issue.
